A Year In Review #2017

We are three days into the New Year and with countless inquires of "what are your resolutions?" I don't think we can really move forward until we look back. I remember watching an episode of The Proud Family (can we say throwback) and they had this whole episode dedicated to Black History, and how important it was to know where you had come from in order to know where you are going. So with that in mind before your 2018 foil balloons deflate lets take it back to 2017.

In 2017, I was young and naive ( just kidding) but honestly 2017 was such an interesting year for me. There were lows and there were definite highs- but lets focus on the good times.

Food Festivals

I am an absolute foodie, I will try weird combinations for the love of food, but mostly I really love BBQ, and I am so happy God set before me a man with similar interests. A definite highlight was checking out a few rib-fests (and a food truck festival- can't wait til summer '18).

Minutes of Music

Music makes me lose control **dance break**, so when Spotify sent me a number in the thousands of minutes I spent listening to music I really wasn't surprised. I love all types of music and I think Landon does too (prepare for a my child is a genius moment)- He seriously tries to sing along with me or music playing and he will stop when it stops its so cute!

Places Travelled

I got to visit Ottawa this year- which was a first for me, and my husband went to Jamaica. We love to travel so though this wasn't a year of territorial exploration for us, I was still pretty happy we did something! ( We also went to Niagara Falls but does that count - we go every year lol)

Cars Owned

Thank Jesus for his provision because we are a two car family- officially! I always said that I wanted my own car at least by the time we had our first child. I knew i would need to get around with total independence (which means I wish someone could be in the car with me and watch Landon when I need to run into the store for two seconds) - but no, I have to take out the stroller, wheel him out, pick him up if he's crying and feed him in the backseat all for 1 tube of tooth paste, but i'm not complaining (lol).

Married for 3 Years & Baby Landon

My husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary this year! Its crazy just how quickly time flies. The past three years have been salted caramel cheese cake good, white chocolate brownie from Moxies good, slap ya momma but she doesn't remember it happened good- I digress, its been a fun journey thus far. I could go on about the rest of the stats but thats okay, you get the idea. Plus, this isn't about us entirely. The highlight of 2017 was welcoming Landon Jay! It was honestly one of the most amazing days in my life, ( don't worry, I will have the bloody, tear jerking details soon enough).

When we welcomed Landon into our lives everything changed, instantly and all the parenting books in the world couldn't prepare us to love him the way we did. All the kicking, discomfort of sleeping on my side, tears of frustration of not being able to fit into clothes came to a screeching halt - he was here, and nothing else mattered.

Happy New Year!
